I posted a new video to the Media section, and got some strange behaviors.
I entered my video's YouTube URL, chose the ’Trip Reports’ category, clicked ’Retrieve Information’, and was taken to the ’Submit Media’ page.
- The large image of my video appears correct and normal.
- The thumbnail image appears to be a small version of a YouTube error page.
- The Title box contains a URL instead of my video’s title (https://youtube.com/devicesupport)
- The Length filled in for the video is wrong.
- The text area for the posting was pre-filled with the above URL, and another (http://m.youtube.com)
Following the link in the Title box brings me to a YouTube page whose title is “Certain older YouTube apps will no longer be supported after April 2015”. Among the points mentioned below this is that there has been an ‘upgrade’ to the YouTube API, with the older version being shut down after April 20, 2015.
I updated the information to the extent possible and hit the ‘Submit Media’ button. The video did post, but the thumbnail is the YouTube error page, and my comments didn’t stick, and are still the two URL’s.
Just a head’s up to the mod’s, there’s changes afoot in YouTube land.
