    Smile My Blackbird Clone

Well I finally did it, I went ahead and tried my hand at my first bugnet hammock. I decided to try the Blackbird clone first to give me a baseline to measure my skills at this point, and the difficulty of the project. Now I can use different ideas in my next bugnet hammock. So here are the details...

It's a DL 1.1, with a 24" opening to allow the use of a pad if needed. I used the 1.1oz Ripstop seconds from DIYGearSupply and I must say, this material is awesome. The fact they call it seconds is ridiculous to me because it has two very tiny gray stripes running down the fabric, and that's it. They actually look like little racing strips

I got all the materials for this project from DIYGearSupply, and I must say every time I order from Scott I am very pleased. Great guy to do business with. So here are some pictures. Tell me what you fellas think!

(it is hung in my basement and I did the best to get the tie outs where I like them, but couldn't get them perfect)

    Overall

    All packed up!

Success out of the gate makes it even more impressive! took me a couple hammocks to get to the point of calling one a "clone"

Haven't slept in it yet, but it lays beautifully! I can't wait to try it out in the woods

Fantastic! Nice first project. With those skills, a DIY Down UQ is a snap!
