Greetings from NC
So I'm looking at purchasing a tent for the camping/hiking season online and stumbled across this forum. Looking to get elevated!!!
I'm loving this article that compares prices across traditional tent gear and hammock camping gear. http://theultimatehang.com/2013/02/t...ve-than-tents/
For a frugal 70 bucks, an amazon.com hammock camping setup appears to be a viable option! :-) For a more spendy hammock setup, my head is spinning with thoughts of a hammock camping setup for a multi day Linville Gorge, NC hike next month. I am torn between a Hennessy Explorer and JRB BMBH Deluxe with a neoair pad.
Any recommendations for an initial setup? Frugal gear from Amazon? The JRB package deal with UQ and fly, etc? it stinks that the special below doesnt come with the properly sorted suspension for the price...
What am I missing? Any vendors on the forum sell similar package deals with the improved suspension and snake skins, etc?

Welcome from the Upstate. I don't know where in SC you are located, but try to make it to a group hang. There is one coming up on Goat Island at Lake Greenwood. Ground dwellers are welcome so you can look at some different set ups before buying.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
