We are always on the lookout for meal options for hiking, camping, or backpacking. Anything goes, from home made to prepackaged, and combinations of the two. This time we were thinking cheap. And Knorr provides just that. Their packaged noodle and rice dishes are great for on the trail. Easy to make, and doable without the milk and butter called for in the recipe. Adding other items like fresh veggies or possibly wild plants, or other processed foods such as tuna are all good.
The Knorr packages offer cheap, quick, and fun experimental meal options.
If you are stuck on the milk and butter thing, both are offered in a powdered version. Get a Zip-Lok bag, empty the contents of the package into the bag, add a tablespoon or two of the powdered milk and butter, seal it up and ready to go. Mark on the bag the amount of water necessary and into the pack it goes.
Just a thought. It is what I do with Bannock so it has more uses than a cooked glob.
