I find I save more space by stuffing my quilts in to the bottom of my pack without a stuff sack. It doesn't leave any unused space.

I'd try to find ways to expand pack capacity before using compression sacks on down quilts. Time to loft is a significant factor for quilt performance and the more compressed quilts are, the longer it takes for them to regain maximum performance. Look for other ways to save volume (E.g. Clothing), or ways to increase capacity i.e. a bigger pack or supplemental Ribz packs.

I use a SeatoSummit Evac DrySack to compress my insulation, there's various sizes to suit your needs.
Just fill, fold over the top a couple of times & push out the air.
Mine goes from 35litres down to 10litres, roughly a third in size.
    It's an option......

I use the Sea to Summit Event for my incubator/burrow...packs down to about 8"x10" for both (4+2oz overstuff). If that's too much space taken up in your pack, you can always put it in your sleeping pad straps...not as pretty, but it'll get your gear there.

Kifaru stuff sacks are by far the best I have ever come across because of the way they compress.
Take a look online and I think you will agree.

I use the "BlockRockSolid" bags from Granite Gear... They pack down into a rectangular form, hence the "block" in the name.
I used the 11 L size for my sleep system, and used to get my lightweight bag, my USMC bivy, and a small tarp all in one package.

I recently went out on my first backpacking hang, and I have my BBXLC, topquilt, and underquilt all set up with a Lazy Slug tube. I then pack the closed up tube into a medium alps stuff sack and compressed it all into a pretty small package that fit in the bottom of my Ohm2.0 pack very easily and left tons of room. Then it's super quick to setup with the lazy slug.

Personally I use a compactor bag in the bottom of my pack and put the hammock and quilts inside of it. I loosely roll the top down in order to ensure no moisture gets inside but find it will compress down as I put items on top of it. It helps fill the pack up completely. I also put any dry clothing inside the bag with the quilts. Even with a pack cover it gives me peace of mind that my sleep items are not going to get wet.

I also put my tarp and suspension on the outside of my pack so if they are wet, they are no where near my down.

I also use the Sea to Summit eVent. It compresses and fits perfectly in the bottom of my Osprey Aether 70 with no wasted space or feeling like a hard lump. For sizing, take your gear to the store and try it before you buy it. They really don't mind.
