I have a HH Explore ultralight with HHSS. That set up gets me to 28-30 degrees. Thinking of getting a Nest UQ to go lower than that. Which would be better, Winter Nest or Nest? Is the Winter Nest that much warmer?

Ratings from JRB Comparison chart
The Nest - Hennessy Slit 25°-30°
The Winter Nest - Hennessy Slit 5°-10°
Obviously significant difference between the two. In VA I use The Nest down to about 20 with appropriate sleeping gear. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten The Winter Nest and used it for everything but the hottest summer. Easier to vent the gear than it is to add to it. But, that being said, I do hike but instead base camp and day hike therefore don't have to worry about weight/bulk.

Check the Specs.......2.5 in loft for Nest VS 3.5 in for Winter Nest.
I would go Winter Nest if you want to go to lower temps.

Thanks for the input. I saw the specs on line and the Nest didn't look like it would take me much lower than my SS. SO I am leaning towards the Winter.
Shug- question for you - in your experience in going very low, which is more helpful - top insulation or under insulation? Also, do you thing I could combine the WN with the SS and possibly achieve temps your buddy did (-26)? Btw - awesome videos SO helpful.
I think I will go with the Winter Nest and High Sierras Sniveler. Sadly, won't get my bonus until March! Just in time for it to warm up.
I just ordered the Mount Washington 4 after talking with Jack about it, and I have the zip explorer deluxe. Mine should be here Wednesday...
What about Greylock 4?
Shug don't you have one? Think it would work with bottom entry HH
