    Caribeaner recommendation needed

So, I got the eye bolts put into the deck posts today. Now I need to find some caribeaners. I want to just leave them out there year round and want something that won't rust out on me. I know there are plenty of aluminum ones out there but I'm not sure about the springs for the gates. I know I could take them in the house, but if they're out there we won't have to find them if we grab a different suspension. Anyone have any suggestions?

For my backyard hanging, I just got the galvanized carabiners from Lowes. They come in different sizes and weight limits. I think the ones I got were medium sized and 200# rated. Have worked just fine and don't rust.

Wire gate carabiners use stainless steel wire for the gate so I wouldn't worry about them. I don't know, but I suspect the springs in solid gate biners are also SS.

you don't want to use aluminum against steel. Home Depot or a hardware store will have hasps or screw gate clips rated for marine or trailer/utility use that work fine...

Why not use the nano biners from whoopieslings.com, i have never seen any rust on any of mine and they are strong and reasonably priced.!

I forgot about that. I've been using eye bolts (assuming steel) and my aluminum Nano biners for hanging inside. I remember some hanging kits having a warning about using their steel biners and not aluminum. Hmm, I may have to revise my setup.

Is there a corrosion issue? Wear?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I would use climbing rated carabiners. They're expensive but "buy once cry once". Here are a couple ... As far a rust proof goes, I think it's zinc plated steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel. From least to greatest rust proofing.

    Stainless Steel
    Zinc

As a former climber you should never leave real climbing carabineers to swing vibrate or just hang on steel anchors (galvanised or not).
Now to just hang some Big Box Retailer's connector style gated clips on anchor hardware it matters very little. They will rust and rub, and will look awful after awhile but no large loss in performance or safety.
Using aluminum against steel will cause electro chemical corrosion. Think lead wheel weights on aluminum tire rims and the gunk that forms around them. also the harder item will rub and wear the softer item.

Just my 2 cents, not slaggin anyone.
