    Suggestion for the Sale/Trade threads

I suggest that the moderators leave the Sale/Trade threads open until the buyer receives the item and has a chance to leave feedback. I don't have an axe to grind on any of my purchases, but the thought occurred to me on a recent transaction that it would have been nice to have the opportunity to leave feedback for the seller. This would help us in the future to be able to look back at a person's transactions and gain an understanding of that person before entrusting them with our money.

Like I said....I have no current complaints that I'm trying to address with this suggestion. But, I think it would've been nice to be able to leave positive feedback for somebody so that they could be viewed as a more trusted seller in the future. The burden of research would be on the buyer, and I'm not suggesting any kind of feedback or rating system. I just want to see the threads left open past the initial purchase for the buyer to be able to say how long it took to get the item, and whether the item was in the condition described in the ad.

    Cordially,

    Chris

since the seller can only have one (1) thread open at a time, having them hold the thread open in order to get feedback, which may or may not come, from the purchaser puts an undue burden on the seller.

But as an alternative perhaps a single thread stuck to the top for seller/buyer feedback would suit your needs?

a Sticky attached to each Sale/Trade thread?

    Perhaps.

I'm just looking for a way for a member to be able to do a little research on past transactions for another member before deciding to engage in a business transaction with them.

I always research a forum member selling something I want to buy. I search many of there post just to get an idea of the kind of person I am dealing with. How/what they post tells me alot.
Getting to know how to use the forums search specific to a forum member can really help.

I agree, and I'm familiar with that search. This would just add a very valid data point to the search.

On the surface this sounds good. The problem is dealing with negative feedback.
Trying to figure out who is telling the truth and getting both sides of the dispute requires a lot of effort.
Most of the management here does not want to spend that kind of time playing detective.
Selling on this forum is not a priority in fact just a year or so ago the rules where changed a lot to try and stop the yardsale only members.

As long as items are photographed properly and described as accurately as possible and the seller provides tracking after receiving a PayPal goods/services payment then there shouldn't be too many issues that could come up.
