Hey, looking to round out my hammock gear and add an underquilt. don't want to break the bank, so $100 to $150 max is what I'm looking to spend. just can't stand the camping pad bunching up on me,

Still Looking? If so you may want to bump it at least once every week. Items that are inactive are subject to being removed from the Market Place area, it allows members to know you are still interested and it will keep the moderators from "pinging" you! Bumps mean to respond in the post.

If you are finished with your thread, please follow the links in my signature for instructions on how to close/move your thread.

If you are going out of town or have limited/no forum access, please close your thread before you leave. It saves frustrations when members post questions but do not get responses.

    Thanks for your help

I'm not commenting, just asking questions. why are you looking for a full-length summer underquilt?

I have a 3/4 length (55x45) Apex UQ that I'd consider selling for a good price. 3/4 is all I've ever need in the summer...

mostly newb talking here, but from my very limited experience of 4 hangs in differing areas, My hope was to have full coverage for longer use through spring and fall, and better bug control. two night canoe trip in SC a couple weeks ago, those of us without an underquilt got eaten up by mosquitoes through the bugnet on arms and legs not covered while those with had no bites, but were a bit warm in the overnight. Second two night trip last weekend it got down to 50's and with me moving around as I do, I feel that full length UQ would be best to not have to adjust in the overnight. willing to entertain thoughts/ideas on 3/4 length though. like most things I do, I'm flying by the seat of my pants here.

are we talking UQ (under-quilt) or TQ (top quilt) here? an UQ has nothing to do with bug net...

my 55" UQ covers from shoulders down to my ankles. my 40* EE top quilt, with the bottom zippered, protects my feet and calves to about my knees so I have never been bitten from underneath while sleeping in a hammock.

this is the perfect length in the summer - long enough for protection on bare legs, short enough to not be needlessly heavy. when it gets down to about 30*, I actually like a shorter UQ of about 48", because in this weather I'm usually wearing long-johns to sleep in.

Underquilt. wherever the hammock touched the bugnet was where I got bit, through both bugnet and hammock. If I had the underquilt, I don't think the suckers would have gotten me. I had a sleeping bag for topquilt, but didn't use it, was too hot. I am hoping a summer weight UQ will provide both bug and heat loss protection, along with not being so warm as the light bag I had with me.

    Folks,
This is WTB, part of the Market Place, and is not meant for general discussion. I have removed a number of posts that while they contained great information or suggestions, have nothing to do with the OP purchasing a new UQ. Please send the OP a PM if you want to chat about his need for an UQ. If you have something to sell or have questions specific to the OP purchase wants, feel free to post here.

    Thanks
