    UQs for Hennessy Hammocks

My son and I have the same system. Our current set up is:

Expedition Asym Classic hammock + rainfly
    Radiant bubble pad (under)
    Snugpak jungle blankets (over)

I was chilly at 39 degrees, but fine at 45.

Thinking we need to invest in UQs for early spring/late fall camping.

What fits well with HH?? Anything that won't break the bank?

For my Hennessey Explorer I went with Little Shop of Hammocks (Saskatchewan, Canada) for both UQ & TQ. Couldn't be happier with them & my Hennessey bubble pad will likely never be used again. James' workmanship is superb & he made some minor modifications to ensure a perfect fit. If you're in the US you also benefit from a very favourable exchange rate ... currently around 20%!

Are your hammocks classic (bottom) opening or zipper? If they are zipper any quilt made for a gathered end hammock will work. If they are classic, while most quilts will work I find it to be a pain to get in/out. I am using the Jacks or Better The Nest with mine.

The Potomac uq is one of the original UQs to be made specifically for the HH’s. And this weekend we have 15% off running. Check out our sub section here on the forum for the thread with details.

I've used a SnugPak underblanket on my Hennessy in mid 30's temp and was just fine. But if I had to go any lower it would fail me, I am sure. But I am in SoCal and mid 30's is probably as low as I will see.

I've been using a stock HH 'Classic' hammock for many years and find the HH SuperShelter as the best fit, cost effective and easy to boost temp range.
However, it is bulky and not as easy to remove/reinstall as an UQ/biner (so I keep mine attached to hammock, roll them up and attach to outside my pack).

It weighs about 16 oz, goes on sale for $99 often (January is next sale), and is good to about 40F out of the box. But, just add a throw blanket/quilt/SnugPak or coat for colder temps - I've been comfortable at 15F by adding the Jarbridge 3/4 UQ (and using a mummy bag vs a TQ).

I mostly camp in the 30F to 60F range with spring fishing trips bring anywhere from 60F to 15F, so being able to use/easy modify my primary set-up is important to me.

Go to the Hennessy subsection of HF and research what others have experienced for use with the 'Classic' hammocks.

Like mentioned above, if you have the zipper mod any UQ will work .

My wife used a Nest on hers for years. Uses it on her new Chameleon. My sons and I are all using UGQs quilts. They work very well, even with bottom entry.

I also went with James who owns LSOH for my HH explorer deluxe asym. It's incredibly comfortable and incredibly warm. Incredibly good customer service. I'm not sure I can say enough good things. If you have a zip hammock this is a great choice.
