I think the point being missed here is why does this site force these taptalk spam ads on us?
Install ad blockers to deal with it??? Tapatalk is a ad delivery system that it's developers stick between you and any site they can con into enabling it simply to deliver even more ads to you while they collect the real revenues and pay out a measily sum to the website for crippling it.
If you would like to alienate your users and piss off the donating members, Forcing third party spam on them is a good start.
The site owners will have to decide if the tapatalk revenues are worth the reduced member donations. I know I won't be renewing if that crap is still around.
Who on the website team though it was a good idea to shove that in our faces to begin with??? I swear some people see a feature and just turn it on without any thought of what that is going to do.
It's spam unrelated to Hammocking. I vote you get rid of it completely.
Has a single user ever requested this as a "Feature"
You sure this isn’t a Google issue as opposed to HF? Seems like Google controls whether to launch the App Store link when visiting a forum site. And Google or Firefox would control whether the box could be clicked (the OPs problem).
Sure HF could eliminate TapaTalk integration but many of us did want that.
Not that I don’t enjoy a good rant about Tapatalk. I wish they had some competition.
Maybe, but why only here?
Only a question, not an accusation?
EDIT:
I will look at the options on Google Play Store, but I suspect there is not anything I can use to stop it from there.
Oh yeah, I also am a donating member.

I collect vintage camp stoves.
I roast coffee at home.
As I have said before, NOT only here... ANY tapatalk enabled forum!
Just to prove that to yourself (and me), visit this link,
https://bushcraftuk.com/community/index.php
Do you get the tapatalk ad?
And does your Firefox mobile app disable the close button there too?
Then try opening this and the other forum using a different browser. If you can close the ad in a different browser, then Firefox is the issue and you need to hassle Mozilla, not hammockforums.
Just an outside possibility. You don't have Twilight (or another screen light filter) running? That can prevent some button presses.

Now I am getting the idea you are getting a bit aggressive.
Not necessary. I am not going to peruse the internet to find sites that do this. I only brought up an issue.
If this is what I am going to get as a reply, I am done.
I said a while back I can let this go. I will.
And NO, I do not have twilight running.
I collect vintage camp stoves.
I roast coffee at home.
You have my sympathy, snwcmpr -- that would drive me nuts!
I get a Tapatalk ad when trying to visit other forums on my phone -- an iPhone using Safari, so those factors are different.
I'm guessing it's simply a targeted ad that would be served regardless of platform, triggered because you are using a mobile phone to view a forum that could be viewed with Tapatalk.
The first time I encountered this, the ad was huge and aggressive, and designed to make users think it was the only way to access the forum via mobile -- so I bit, signed up, and then the forum I wanted was not on the Tapatalk available list anyway. So in that case at least it was not because the site mods made some kind of agreement or turned on some function regarding Tapatalk. Web/mobile ads typically don't give that much specific control to site mods, anyway.
I'm guessing your particular problem with this ad, snwcmpr, is a Firefox issue that doesn't display the ad correctly so that the X is off the edge of the screen. Unfortunately the only thing to do about that is try a different browser.
Calm down sunshine, we've all had a drink....
Not aggressive, just keen to get the process of elimination under way. But I get it, life is short, there are more exciting things to be done with it.
I guess, as the forum is unlikely to drop tapatalk support and tapatalk are unlikely to stop using popups (although, it might be worth raising your Firefox/button issue with them), as I see it, you have a few options open to you.
You could install the adblock addon to Firefox.
You could use a different browser, but I can see that would be a big step for a little problem.
Install tapatalk... not seeing that being your first choice!
Continue to use Firefox in desktop mode.
I guess, unless you want to throw a lot of time at it, you might be best off sticking to desktop mode.
Don't think the mods will be able to help in this case.

Okay, stepping back. Peace to all.
I am going to let this go.
I can see the 'x', but it is not clickable.
It is not worth the time I have already put into it, much less any more time.
No, to Tapatalk.
Desktop mode it is. I do not feel like getting used to a different browser.
