I use these as well. They are quite large. I can fit both my 20F and 40F underquilts inside one bag without any real stuffing.

Yep. I use one for my 50° set and one for my 40° set. I still separate my 10° quilts in their own bags just because they’re that much fluffier.

If you take them out and they are squashed flat, I remember a tip to tumble in drier on a no heat, air only setting with a clean new tennis ball and that will help fluff them up again. I bought tennis balls to try this, but never did because eventually my puffer jackets fluffed themselves up again.

That's a nice find! Are they large and made of cotton?

No, big mesh type bags. I'm hoping they'll be good enough at least for now.

I store my tents in those. They work great. Yes, I still have tents. Not all of my children have made the switch yet.

I have big cotton laundry bags, too, like what x7456 uses. Those are awesome as well.

I'm planning on purging enough out of my closet to hang some of the quilts, though.

Humidity, extreme temperatures, chemicals (like gasoline fumes),and ozone from electric motors and appliances can be worse for down quilts than compression. Don't know what your garage is like, but mine is surely no place for down. It can be -15° F in winter and 105° F in the summer and is full of paint, gasoline, and other fumes. At times it gets so humid that water vapor condenses on the inside of the windows. Just be careful if your garage isn't clean and controlled space.

I'd rather keep mine compressed under a bed than in a garage.
