Ladies, Gentlemen & Hawk-Eye, though I might let y'all in on a little news. The HG ridgeline organizer has a new and improved design. Y'all are never gonna guess who has a prototype. Oh yeah, it's...
I recently purchased a Half Wit in Hexon 1.6 and find it to be the most comfortable hammock I own. I'll be purchasing at least two more of them, one for my wife and one for my son.
Shug is...
I got home a little bit ago after pulling a 36 hour shift at work and what do I find? A package from Dutch! The Half Wit is a seriously sweet hammock. I'll take it back to work with me tomorrow...
Thanks. I've been a member for a long time (Since 2007, member number 336), I just haven't posted much in the past few years. It's nice to be back.
Thanks. I saw you're at Carolina Beach. I'm just a could yours NW of you. Let me know if you want to walk some trail sometime.
Ok, so I've ordered from Dutch twice this week. I've got a Half-Wit on the way and ordered a CRL and some Dutch Wire for another one of my tarps today. Heaven help me.
Any information posted on the 2016 Mt. Rogers Winter Hang posted yet? I did a search and couldn't find anything. I haven't been in a few years and would love to attend this time around.
Depends on who ya know. :P
I'm working on Saturday night, but I'm off Friday night. I just very well may try to make it out there for the night. Hope to see some of y'all out there. What do you need me to bring for Friday...
Dunno about y'all, but I tend to worry less about angles and numbers and more about comfort when I hang. Angle, schmangle, I could care less as long as I'm comfy.
As of today, my class schedule is out and so am I. :(
19 January I have a full day in the emergency vehicle driver course and will not be able to attend. Y'all have fun and hope to catch ya next...
I may be back in. I've decided against SoRuck and most of the drunken idiots that come along with it. If I don't have to work and don't have class, (starting EMT basic course next month) I'll be...
Iron Mountain Trail. It used to be the old AT before the ATC rerouted the trail through the Grayson Highlands.
Ditto, Dancer and I are attentding Ruck as well. Usually, these events fall a weekend apart, but this year, they're on the same weekend. Tough choice to make, but reservations are already made. ...
Very cool, Mule! I'm no artist, but it looks like a job well done, thanks for sharing. I remember that trip well, it was May 2008, just before I moved back to NC from Lexington.
We've got a lot on the plate right now, but I'm going to talk to Dancer about making this one if we can. We'll be up that way this coming weekend honeymooning in area, always nice to go back to Hot...
Dancer and I are planning on coming. Hope to see y'all there!
Well, I was off on my weather. Dunno what I was thinking. Dang, looks like temps are downright agreeable for a hang. Y'all enjoy!
Looking like y'all are gonna have some nice hot temps to contend with. I can't come, unfortunately, work, moving, and wedding/honeymoon planning are keeping me busy. However, might I humbly suggest...
Large and regular, huh? I'd call 'em the Big Dipper and Little Dipper, respectively.
Welcome from Charlotte!
My absolute favorite hang spot is one I see every year or so, just to keep it special to me. It's just above Cherry Tree Shelter on the Iron Mountain Trail in Virginia. The IMT was once the footbed...
Welcome aboard from up the road in Charlotte. :D
Welcome aboard from Charlotte, a few of my favorite restaurants are in Asheville (Mayfel's, Tupelo Honey, Early Girl, Jerusalem Garden). :D
Now go back to your drum circle.
You could use it as really heavy bear line.
Huh?
Leave 'em on. . . .take 'em off. . . .leave 'em on. . . .take 'em off. . . .Sorry, I'm not much help.
Leave 'em on, roll 'em up, tie 'em off, and stuff it in. When ready for use, reverse it. :D
Welcome from Charlotte!
Best idea ever! I'm going to have to start doing this. Thank you for sharing!
Woo-hoo! Another NC hanger! Welcome aboard from down the road in Charlotte!
Brilliant! See, who's the genius now? Didn't even think about the pillow case! :D
Tie it off with a slippery half hitch.
My girlfriend is a hanger, too. My son has his own hammock setup. For anyone else, their opinion is, quite frankly, insignificant.
Thank you. It was driving me nuts, too.
Put it all in a trash bag or something similar. Then play with it to get the size and shape that you'd like it. Once you have that figured out, measure. Problem solved.
Next? :D
On this edition of Hoarders, Hammock Edition. . . .
If you're looking for a good tarp for under a hundred smackers, definitely watch the for sale forums. You can find great gear at excellent prices. I sold 2 tarps on there not long ago, a Speer 8x10...
Will do! She won't be here til later this evening, so it very well may be The Diamond or Lupie's. :D
Holy cow! It's like the Hickery Brothers meets Jackass! Hilarious! As always, thanks, Shug. As soon as doc relases me, I'm going to have to head out and spend a night at Catheral Falls.
...
No, it's really ok. I LOVE sitting around and not hiking or doing much of anything.
Nah, doc said it's a no go for a couple more weeks, at least. :(
On last one, then I'm done, I swear.
Oh, but it's just so tempting.
I promise, really.
Ok, no new posts.
:lol::lol::lol:
Oftentimes, shuttle prices can vary, so I wouldn't want to put a number out there, especially if I'm wrong and since I'm not the one running the shuttle. My best advice is to call the folks at...
For anyone doing this section, or ending any section at 19E, I can't emphasize enough how importatnt it is to not leave a vehicle at the tiny parking area on 19E. For quite a while now, it has been...
Doc says it's a no-go. Hooch who wants to go hiking thinks this sucks. Hooch who doesn't wan to leave a blood trail coming from his nose for 15 miles is cool with it. Oh well, hopefully, I can...
