How many of you guys use a Dutch Clip or just go through loop of hugger?

In my quest for building my thru-hiking kit, I'm starting to become weirdly obsessed with going lighter and lighter. This is one of those cases when you say "Do you actually need it?"

I've already answered that for myself. No. I don't actually need a Dutch Clip. It is though, 18.25 grams for the sewn in pair I have. I know, only 18.25grams. Well that's about 0.65 ounces!!

And to someone like me, a gram weenie, that's actually a good amount of weight to shave off your shelter... on paper. But there's more to it than that

This is just one of those scenarios where I'm staring at a tree in my front yard putting a hugger on over and over again. With and without using the dutch clip. It's definitely easier with the clip, but that's not saying just pulling one end through the other isn't "easy". I'm sitting here asking myself, "is the 0.65oz worth it?".. It's not just a matter of the weight but a matter of having too much stuff now. Keeping it simple and getting rid of things in my life that I don't "need" more and more before I hit the trail. I know.. it's a dutch clip. And I also don't "need" a hammock. But it's an accessory that isn't vital to the suspension. But wait? Does the Dutch Clip make it simpler.. or does it just add to materialistic nature of ourselves?

I'm very close to not using a dutch clip now. Just so I can continue to de-clutter my kit and my mind before I head out.

What's everyone's preferred method and why?

Clips here. Saves a few seconds that allows me to get coffee going quicker.

Sewn in clips. It allows Dutch to pick a nice college for his daughter.

I love the clips. That way there is no way I can accidentally leave my straps as they stay attached to my hammock.

If you want to sell your clips, I'll pay $15 to take that .65 oz off your hands
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.

I am more handsome since I started using Dutch clips. My previously foul smells are akin to a blend of wild flowers and baking Apple pie since adopting Dutch Clips on all my hammocks. I have never been struck by a falling meteor while using Dutch clips. The risk of switching back is just too great.

    These are all great responses.

Fans of the Dutch Clips are uniting as one.

As of right now, they are not for sale. I would have to cut my nice fancy kevlar huggers and resew them. So I would probably just gift it to my dad or something.

Clips for me. Stuff stays all attached (unless it gets wet) bishop bag made from a Zpacks rolltop pack liner and quilts stay in and on the hammy. Hook foot end, open bag go to head end and clip and adjust cinch buckles. Very fast set up or take down.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

Egad, What has this group come to?

I am laughing so hard, almost rolling on the floor, my dog thinks I am having a seizure...

I just had to buy, felt compelled to buy "Dutch Clips", I think I am starting to hoard "Dutch Gear".
