    Possible thunderstorms

I'm looking to receive a new hammock today, and wanted to get it out for a hang tonight.

The forecast is calling for heavy rain 5-9pm with possible thunderstorms.

My dilemma is whether to go out to hang/test out my tarp.

    I'm so tempted.

If you are testing in your back yard or some place you can easily bail out of...go for it.

Personally I test all my gear at home in my yard before I take it out to the field.

Might as well try it out. For me, hanging when it's just raining is great. Lightning on the other hand stinks.

Dkurfiss: if I had a hangable back yard, I would. My favorite weeknight hand spot is approximately 40 min drive.

    Go for it!

Pack everything just like a real trip and when you arrive at your "campsite," set up the tarp first (in the rain!) to give yourself a dry place to work, then everything else under the tarp to see if you can do it without getting soaked.

Come to think of it, that sounds like so much fun that I think I'll go out for a little micro-adventure myself tonight here in Vermont, where heavy rain is pretty much a sure thing for tonight!

    Thanks, and have fun!
