Thanks but he already has a pack, he only has two things left to get a bag and sleeping pad.
how much is he looking to spend? i have a 15deg marmot down bag and a thermarest prolite pad if interested.
I know it's going to be tough but he was trying to stay around $100 for both.
Walmart is your buddy's friend. Tell him to buy Blue Camping Pad for $12 and whatever sleeping bag he likes there - they all are heavy and cumbersome, but cheap. Maybe he will see the light when he sees you hammock-camping.
Yeah I think once he sees it in person. He was already asking me yesterday about what I'm doing and I explained it to him and he said I need to see this contraption, so I sent him some pictures and his response was "that's awesome!"
If he can't find something a little bit better for less money. he's going with the Kelty talk 22 bag $90 and a fox outfitter pad $50 that he found on Amazon.
His money, his decisions... I'd look into Top Quilt instead of Sleeping bag if I don't own a sleeping bag already. If Down is out of the price range, then synthetic TQs aren't much more expensive than that. And for ground sleeping, a closed cell pad is the most reliable (but not the most comfortable) and those can be had for much cheaper than $50.
Your friend will spend his $140 now, than "see the light" and will have to buy TQ + UQ in the nearest future...
