    Using topquilt as an underquilt

Hi, didnt find any comment about this. I need to buy the down insulation system for me. Sometimes I will need to share and offer bottom insulation for someone, thus provide my topquilt to use as an underquilt with another hammock, and using just sleeping bag for myself as topquilt.

My question is, is there any easy already invented system, how to remove the cords and suspensions ? Or is it better just to buy and use two underquilts, as the topquilt one of them including the cords and suspension?. I would like to have longer topquilt like 80 inch, with possibility to hang as an underquilt.

Thanks for your comments, hope this is not stupidity

My JacksRBetter TQ can double as UQ. Would just need to add shock cord suspension. They have grosgrain loops on the sides and drawstrings on each end.

The TQ would need to have a non sewed foot box for it to work.

I also use Jacks R Better quilt, Old Rag Mountain, which I can use as either TQ or UQ. Works well in both locations.

at the MAHHA a couple weeks ago one of our group was using his TQ as an UQ. he ran shock cord through the loops that are for securing it to a pad and hooked it to his suspension. It looked like it was designed as an UQ. it seemed to work really well for him.

Like others have said, the JRB TQs are designed with this in mind. I have a 20* Sierra Sniveller with a drawstring/omnitape foot box that I've loaned out to another hanger without a UQ.

Thanks for the replies, I will ask my future topquilts producer to incorporate this possibility.
