Modular set ups for when hanging isn't an option

I'm looking for others who might have a similar agenda of being prepared to go to the ground when needed but keeping extra weight and bull at at minimum (or even better non existent). If there is another thread out there containing this conversation I have been unable to come up with the right phrasing to find it so please feel free to link that.

I use a kelty Noah 12 tarp, that can be set up in a bunch of different tent configurations. I also carry a thermarest Z lite pad. I use it as a sit pad when taking breaks, and as my "ground cloth" under my hammock to stand on, and can be used for sleeping on if I have too.

The above are just a few of the threads here that discuss how to go to ground when needed. On the Home page here, right side frame you will find a Google search box that I find to be helpful when I can't get the forum software to pull up what I want.

I use a regular ground tarp over my hammock, trekking poles hold it up. A piece of ridge rest cut down to shoulder to upper thigh size, used like you. I put my pack under the bottom of my legs when on the ground.

My wife and I pretty much always have a modular setup with us on our thru hikes.

We carry our regular hammock stuff (which includes a 3/4 length UQ) plus 7 section Z rest and a gossamer gear polycro ground sheet. The pad can go under the legs when it gets cold in the hammock or can be used as a 'welcome mat' below your hammock. We also lounge on our pads on breaks (especially useful in the desert when taking longer shade breaks).

We use our tarps for cover when needed, but often just cowboy camp if possible.

It is time for new tarps and I am thinking about putting a cat cut into the next version we make for better go-to-ground setups.
