Fresh Meat hanging in the cold air

Howdy Y'all. Michigan born Texan here. I've been camping and hunting since childhood, started backpacking about a year and a half ago. Just got turned on to elevated camping this past summer as I found it easier to get out of bed from the hammock than climbing out of a tent in the morning with my arthritis and plumpness. I went through a couple of cheap short hammocks and then to the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater which has been fine for most of my jaunts. As I spent more time hanging and watching YouTube to answer some of the issues I ran into I came across SHUG... I'm not sure if I should thank him or not, Hammock Gear DutchWear and Warbonnet should thank him for sure though! No disappointment with any of the gear. I am thrilled with the comfort in sleeping outdoors between the trees. Looking forward to the HangCon in Florida this Jan. to meet more folks and check out systems. I am learning and figuring out more all the time. Reading through this forum has been refreshing. Glad to have come into a gathering of decent fun folks.

Gish, I totally misread your title "Fresh Meat hanging in the cold air". I thought "another hunting comment".

Glad you found HF. Now you will really discover comfort. My daughter and I both started out like your did. In my case it required about an hour after awakening on the ground to get upright and walking. With my first hammock, I discovered pain free sleeping. With my hammock, I just pop out of it in the morning ready to start the day. I am now hooked on hammocks.

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA. There are lots of us who have either discovered or re-discovered the benefits of spending time out-of-doors because of the comfort advantage hammocks offer over sleeping on the cold hard ground. Happy hanging!

Ha, I totally misread the title, too, thinking "oh no, here come the bear people to shoot down this idea!"

Welcome to the hanging fresh meat, from Florida.

Glad to hear you're coming to HangCon 2018. Should be a lot of fun with many, many types of gear for you to check out. And some of those vendors will be here as well.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
