    It is a subjective subject.
I for one prefer a gathered end hammock.

This is another of those questions that only you can answer. Some prefer gathered end hammock, some like the Mayan, some prefer the bridge. It is all about you on this one. If I remember correctly you want to sleep inside in a hammock 100% of the time. That is somewhat different than those who camp in them. Below are a couple of threads to review

You might want to try searching the forum for more threads. I had about 20 come up on my Google search.

Gathered End is common, inexpensive, simple, lightweight, and comfortable, especially in 11' length

Bridge or 90 degree hammocks are often considered a little more comfortable, but it's usually a bit heavier, a bit more expensive, and many of the models are more "tippy" feeling.

Different strokes... try both if you can

As others have already mentioned, only you will be able to ultimately decide which style of hammock is most comfortable for you. But a good rule of thumb I think is to start with an 11' gathered end hammock, and see what you think. After that, try a bridge if you're curious. I personally prefer a gathered end. It suits my sleep positions better- due to the width. I would recommend attending a local hang if you can. That way, you will be able to test out a bunch of hammock styles to get a better idea for what you want.

Some of us feel if it's good enough for Shug, it's good enough for me! Can't say I've been steered wrong by that feller yet.

Yeah, I just watched both videos and I agree with your preference, Gathered end hammock seems quite comfortable to me but yet I will look at other types before getting one.

My preference for comfort is the Ninety Degree Hammocktent hammocks. I like my GEs, sold my bridge, but the hammocktent hammocks are the most fiddle free and comfortable. But since you are new to hanging I'd say give the GEs a try, but if and when you have an opportunity to try a hammocktent 90 degree give it a go.

I on the other hand found my 90 degree Gamma to be too short, prone to leg hyperextension, and incapable of keeping me warm in 30 degree weather when using a properly fitted pad. And the tarp was difficult to pitch low enough to keep me sheltered from the wind. To each their own... I wanted it to work for me!

Gathered-end an obvious place to start based on popularity, cost, availability. I tried a bridge recently, expecting it to be "even better" than a GE based on how they're marketed, but ... meh. I am completely satisfied with GE type, as long as long enough and properly hung, which isn't hard but isn't obvious or foolproof either. I will say the bridge felt a little more bedlike, but since getting used to GE's I can't sleep in beds anymore so a negative... Full-time hanger 5 years now.
