    Hellllllo Hangers...

    Greetings,

    I have been doing my research and lurking around this site for a while, and have finally drank the cool-aid, I am all in.

    My ground dwelling days are over. I have attached some pics of my first hang mid 20's and low 30's at night, I figured if I could research, prepare and execute a winter hang in the Trinity Alps in Feruary, then the spring summer treks would be a piece of cake.

    Being a 16 year miltary veteran still on active duty, I am no stranger to intelligence gathering and all the preparation that goes into a planning and executing a successful mission to try and reduce (as much as possible) "Murphy" from coming to the party. I did my homework then checked and re-checked before finally setting out.

    Easy 7 mile out and back close to creeks and rivers, gear included;
    Clark Jungle Hammock NX-250, with whoopies, Clark Z-Liner, and Clark Vertex silnylon tarp.
    Sea to Summit MC II sleeping bag over an Asolo silva unzipped for a topquilt, Toasty Warm.

    Obviously, any gram counters out there are cringing at the extra weight. I was at 24 lbs for my base and 32 after food water and fuel, I brought twice as much food as I needed, and too many gear redundancies for fire, stoves and water purification, that seems to be my problem on every trip. It is hard to break the mentality that "it's better to have and not need, than to need and not have" I am working on it.

    I would just like to say thank you to you All, I have learned much from your posts and all the information you share as well as the numerous videos on youtube and continue to look for new ways to "lighten the load" to hang my own hang with out sacrificing too much comfort.

    Welcome from N. California

    Hello from the next county over. I'm in Lake County & a Vet myself. I got into hanging in a Hennessy Hammock in 2003 and have been almost a full timer sleeping in it every night since.

    We're having a Hammock Hang in May. This will be our 2nd Boggs Mt Hangout. You can read about it here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=69400

    These hangs are a great way to learn from other hangers and get to know people on the forum. Hope you can make it and welcome to our addiction.

    My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

    Patriots unite, I have often thought about a tour in Guam, I opted for Puerto Rico instead, maybe next rotation, I do need to work more on devolving my gills. Thanks for your Service!
