I think it is best to buy locally as you can confirm the quality and it's origin.

I see you are newer to posting on the forums, and active participation is what makes HF a good forum. But one of the things that makes this place special, is the level of respect upheld by members here. That extends to keeping threads and posts on point. The main function of the forums is to share knowledge. This thread is a great one, as it is sharing the knowledge of obtaining down at inexpensive rates. IF you disagree with the goal, you are welcome to start a thread stating the downfalls of cheap down. It is alright to disagree with a thread, but hijacking it is another matter. This is not the sort of forum where that happens, and I am very proud of this community for the type of members we have. It allows free ideas and questions to be shared, without ridicule.
And believe me, if you start a thread on proper treatment of animals when harvesting down, you will get support for YOUR topic, without hijacking.
This is a great thread, and I don't think it is fair for it to be closed. I do think it should be cleaned up, and that may extend to this very post.

Surely if buying down then you want to know not only price but other information, quality, trustworthiness production values, delivery times etc. I think whether down is ethically produced is useful to know and up to the buyer to ignore if they so wish.

All the other issues aside,as far as price goes,this quoted price is not that good for the
goose if there is any shipping charges.I don't know about the duck because I don't use
it.Also,I know a lot of people are looking at the 700fp stuff to save money,but with the
higher fp stuff it takes quite a bit less to reach the same loft and insulating capabilities
negating much of the savings on the cheaper stuff.Now if someone can direct me to
someone selling 850fp Duck(extremely clean and relatively feather free)at half the
price of goose,I may be interested in trying it.The price for 850fp goose is not much more
than the price quoted above for 700fp.White or gray?Doesn't matter unless you are
making and selling comforters out of white fabric.I have not seen any quality difference
between the colors.I know if I spend time,money, and effort to make a nice quilt or whatever,
I want to use nice materials and fill it with good down.
Certainly not arguing with anyone's outlook on this subject,Just stating my own feelings
on the matter.We as a group should be able to discuss this in a friendly manner.

Still hard to beat MyLuxe pillows from ebay. The King Size Firm contain about 32oz each of 800FP down, and can be won for a around $3/oz.

Are these pillows 100% pure 800fp down without any work for harvesting besides cutting them open?

Bloomingdales claim them to be, and other members here believe them to be. Very easy to harvest.

I've found some feather... not much, but some (1%-ish). If you have a shop-vac that can blow, I recommend the eductor method:
